Oscar Pistorius’ victimhood

“All through Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius’ trial for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkmap through a locked toilet door with three bullets, the main narrative of the defence has starkly been that of Oscar as the victim rather than the person whom he killed.”

The athlete’s defence unwaveringly painted Oscar as a victim, scared to be a victim on the night of the murder and a victim of the prosecution, the media and the public thereafter.
